Apricot Jam!

Home made on Damascus Farm, Prince Albert, against the Zwartberg Mountains, in the Great Karoo, South Africa.

Our apricot jam is made from freshly picked, Imperial apricots, sugar and a pinch of tartaric acid. This variety of apricot is harvested slightly later than others, but is sweeter, with better colour and rosier cheeks.

Most of our harvest is exported to Europe, but a small portion stays behind and is used for our jam.

Background:

We have been making jam for ourselves and friends for years. Last year we tested interest outside of the family for the first time and it was overwhelmingly positive. So this year, 2012, is the first time that we are inviting further interest. It is very exciting and will be interesting to see the response.
